Fortificacions de Pamplona. La vida de ayer y hoy en la ciudad amurallada

Ouvrage collectif
Fortificacions de Pamplona. La vida de ayer y hoy en la ciudad amurallada

This publication was written following a series of conferences on the urban history and evolution ofPamplonaorganised by the municipality. Several speakers have contributed texts that take us back in time, especially to the 18th century when the life of the town was strongly marked by the war of Convention between the Spanish and the French revolutionary government.

The book features the history of the town’s fortifications from the 16th century up to the present day, with a review of the town’s prominent figures, from kings to engineers.

It goes beyond the town ofPamplona, and also deals with the history of monuments in other Spanish regions and neighbouring countries, namely inCatalonia,France,Italy,MaltaandPortugal. The authors also question the relationship that we now have with this heritage.
