Vauban : de la gloire du roi au service de l'État

Biography of Vauban which focuses on the archives left by the man and which sets out his thoughts and writing in a historical context. Each part looks at a different facet of the engineer: the scientific, siege warfarer, administrator, arithmetician, the man of state and the adviser of the king. The annex lists part of the works of the Vauban library and the localisation and organisation of the Oisivetés (“idle thoughts”).
