SAFETY OF INDIVIDUALS 
The sanitary state of the fort des Salettes leads to two safety-related issues, one of which is linked to the position of the fort above the departmental road, while the other concerns public access to the inside of the fort :

• The stone ruins of the south-east front are a direct threat to the departmental road.
• Risk of public falling within the fort
• Risk of unstable stones falling or unpredictable collapses within the fort and moats.

MAINTENANCE OF THE MONUMENT 
The long period of abandonment and lack of maintenance – until the service of the Historical Monuments, the Municipality and the Club du Vieux Manoir intervened - as well as inevitable vandalism under such circumstances have led to a general deterioration of the fort.

Restoration works are required to ensure the preservation and stability of the works, which involves a general topping-out operation and the stabilisation of the masonry.

PRESENTATION OF THE MONUMENT 
The presentation section of the monument consists of a restoration to its mid-19th century state, similar to what it is now.
