Louis XIV and Colbert created the “Rivière royale”, a unique network of channels, aqueducts and ponds that fed the park’s fountains with rainwater thus operating the “water features” inVersailles.

These two booklets published in the Twin Guide Collection lead us on a discovery of the Sun King’s river. The first suggests different walks between Rambouillet and Mesnil-Saint-Denis, and the second provides a better understanding of the original features and quality of this hydraulic masterpiece by examining historical and technical plans.
